I love my dogs an unreasonable amount. They are such a part of our family that I cannot imagine what we would do without them! They wake up with me every morning and wait by their bowls, then go back to their beds and sleep in later with my husband. We call it their "After Breakfast Nap." Sometimes when they are lucky, they get to join me at work, where they watch the cattle and donkey on the other side of the fence. They are herding dogs, so they get a big kick out of that.
Lately it has been so hot that they have had to stay at home, indoors. My husband says they are dogs and can handle it, but not my babies. They need to take ten hour naps and rest where it's cool. When I get home we have mandatory play time indoors and out, and then take a walk later in the evening when it's not so piping hot.
This morning when I was walking out the front door, my husband and puppy were outside working on my car. My husband said that the tires were low and Trixie was helping him out by sitting in the backseat overseeing all the work. When he finished and it was time for me to leave, she would not get out of the car. She wanted to come to work and was adamant. She gave me the saddest puppy eyes as I drove away - it seriously tugged at my heart. Hopefully next week won't be so hot and she can join me at work!
